Position Summary:

VCU School of Nursing is seeking a Scholarship and Stewardship Manager to manage the scholarship process as well as donor stewardship for the school. The manager will oversee the annual awarding of scholarships for the School of Nursing and has responsibility for internal systems and procedures associated with scholarship funds. The scholarship manager will work in partnership with faculty and staff at the School of Nursing (including the Office of Student Success, Business office, program directors and the director of the Langston Center for Innovation in Quality and Safety), staff at the MCV Foundation as well as the Office of Financial Aid.

Primary responsibilities include:

· Update the scholarship management database and oversee the annual awarding of scholarships.

· Maintain accurate records (gift agreements/amendments) in the donor database as well as in the school’s internal tracking spreadsheet.

· Upload annual endowment payout information.

· Correspond with students regarding their award status and ensure that students accept their awards and write thank you letters to donors/stewards.

· Develop and implement a system for sharing donor spirit and intent with students and ensure that students maintain criteria for their scholarship each semester.

Additionally, the manager will implement stewardship strategies for the School of Nursing, including drafting gift agreements to route for approval/signatures; manage reporting needs for endowed and current use funds; and submit new fund request forms. In partnership with Sr. Director of Development, develop a system for stewarding donors, including developing donor impact reports for the school’s top donors and donors to funding priority areas; and oversee annual endowment reporting in partnership with the MCV Foundation.

In order to be successful in this position, the Scholarship and Stewardship Specialist should have past experience that demonstrates:

· Bachelor's degree or equivalent applicable training and/or experience
· High level customer service and verbal and written communications skills
· Ability to create and maintain positive relationships with diverse internal and external constituents
· Ability to manage time efficiently, prioritize work and handle multiple projects simultaneously
· Ability to attend to details and meet deadlines
· Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends for special events of the School
· Minimum of two years of professional work experience in donor relations or program management
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google suite
· Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff and student environment or commitment to do
so as a staff member at VCU.

Preferred Hiring Standards:

· Three or more years experience working in a donor service or grant-making role in the nonprofit or education sector, preferably in student financial aid, private scholarship administration or related industry.
· Customer Relationship Management System or Blackbaud system experience
