Overview:
Medicines for All Institute (M4ALL) is committed to improving access to affordable high-quality medicines across the globe. M4ALL does this by using its expertise in process chemistry to find better ways to manufacture critical medicines for global health needs and to supply active pharmaceutical ingredients. In support of this mission, the Institute is inviting applications for the position of Director, Sponsor Relations and Portfolio Management. This position is responsible for ensuring that M4ALL’s technical and other deliverables are customized to reflect input from M4ALL’s sponsors and stakeholders. In this role, you will interact directly with M4ALL’s research sponsors and drive project and portfolio management for a dynamic portfolio of Global Health projects. You will have the opportunity to develop, maintain, and leverage effective relationships and engagement with M4ALL’s sponsors, including the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) and similar sponsor and funding partners, with the goal of building those customer relationships for M4ALL’s benefit.

Core Responsibilities:
● Collaborate internally with the technical, financial, project management and market engagement functions of M4ALL; externally, this position works closely with development partners to ensure that all BMGF-funded projects are organized, staffed, supported, and executed according to project charters and timelines. The plans need to reflect sponsor requirements and preferences.
● Refine and manage internal processes for robust project management and communications in accordance with agreed phase-gate process and phase gate deliverables, including evaluating programs and software to facilitate project management and execution.
● Oversee the execution, deliverables quality, deadlines, scheduling, and managing the reporting of project status to the Executive Team, sponsors, and external development partners.
● In collaboration with the internal technical team and external experts, ensure timely completion of paper studies for all new projects as requested/required by BMGF or other sponsors – gaining competitive intelligence on existing chemistries and technologies, defining potential opportunities for improvement, constructing project execution plans, and coordinating decision-making with all involved.
● Interface with M4ALL’s Finance team to align on budgets and project work as required, manage projects to budget, and collaborate on change requests and reporting.
● Interface with Market Engagement to ensure stakeholders, including funders, product development partners, and implementation partners, are adequately supported to achieve project goals.
● Manage and enhance the relationship with BMGF and other sponsors and ensure that all M4ALL meetings, interactions, and required meeting, phase gate, and grant deliverables are provided in a timely fashion and in accordance with sponsor requirements and preferences. For BMGF work, this will be done in coordination with outside consultants engaged to support M4ALL’s work on those projects.

Required Qualifications:
● 7+ years of experience leading projects and programs, or in an account or project/project portfolio management function.
● Demonstrated strong project planning, management, implementation, and execution skills with a proven track record of successfully leading or managing multiple projects simultaneously.
● Proven ability to effectively lead and manage relationships both internally and externally- with all levels of an organization, including stakeholders, staff, Boards, external parties, and key accounts.
● Demonstrated exceptional oral and written skills to convey complex technical and project subject matter in a thorough, accurate, and concise manner to a wide range of stakeholders, including both technical and non-technical teams.
● Experience working in Global Health or a related field (healthcare or pharmaceutical).
● Demonstrated ability to implement best practices in project management and to train others in those practices.
● Motivated, self-starter, with proven organizational and management skills within a dynamic, fast-paced environment, including keen attention to details, schedules and deadlines.
● Demonstrated interpersonal and collaborative skills to work in highly effective teams.
● Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field

Preferred Qualifications:
● An advanced degree in chemistry, polymer science, materials science, chemical engineering, pharmaceutical engineering, other engineering or science,is highly preferred.
● Experience managing relationships with grantors to universities and non-profit organizations
● Relevant experience in a technology or manufacturing-based organizations
