Summary:

Development Coordinators perform a wide variety of administrative, logistical, operational, and technical tasks related to development and alumni relations. They may implement fundraising activities or programs and solicit funds or gifts-in-kind. They may write, call, or meet with potential contributors; develop, implement, and market regional programs to engage and encourage financial support from alumni, parents, and other donors; and manage annual reunions by recruiting and coordinating community participation. They may work independently or as part of a team. They work under general supervision, resolving most standard issues independently and referring complex issues to an upper-level manager.

The L. Douglas Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs invites applications for a Development & Alumni Relations Coordinator. This position will report to the Wilder School Director of Development and Alumni Engagement, and support development and alumni-related activities that cultivate and broaden interest in the Wilder School and the university. The Development & Alumni Relations Coordinator will assist the Director of Development and Alumni Engagement with preparing fundraising and presentation materials, organizing development activities and follow-up, coordinating internal and external event logistics, and researching and preparing information about Wilder School constituents including, but not limited to, prospects, donors, volunteers, council members, and organizations. The position will also support special projects assigned by the Dean and coordinate the school’s stewardship and donor relations activities. Examples of position responsibilities include directly supporting the Director of Development and the Wilder School development and alumni program; organizing alumni engagement and donor programs/events and follow-up; coordinating correspondence with prospects and donors; assisting with fiscal responsibilities, including maintaining data integrity and scholarship assistance.

Minimum Hiring Standards:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or an equivalent combination of college and related experience.

Strong written and oral communication, presentation, and organizational skills; excellent Microsoft Office skills; attention to detail; a willingness to collaborate with various teams with competing priorities, courteous and pleasant demeanor; excellent time management skills, and the ability to interact professionally with multiple constituencies, and an ability to solve problems and respond to questions independently. Must be able to work in a diverse environment.

Availability to work non-traditional hours.

Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment at VCU.

Preferred Hiring Standards:
Database and spreadsheet knowledge to include, but not limited to, RADAR experience, using Blackboard CRM, eVA and Banner systems, event and executive meeting planning and project management.
