Typical Duties
Under the general supervision of the Associate Athletic Trainer, the Assistant Athletic Trainer will coordinate at a high-level athletic injury prevention, evaluation, management and rehabilitation for VCU intercollegiate student-athletes. The sport assignment will be Cross Country and Track & Field .Employee is required to keep accurate records of all treatments of athletic injuries and organize the training room.
Typical Education and Experience
Minimum hiring standards include:
-Bachelor’s degree;
-Two (2) years’ experience working within collegiate athletics;
-Valid driver’s license and ability to drive University vehicles;
-Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU;
-Able to work independently, as well as part of a team in a multi-tasking environment, with a strong sense of principles and ethics in regard to the welfare of the student-athletes.
Preferred Hiring Standards
-Experience working with Cross Country and Track & Field within Division I Athletics;
-Willingness and ability to work flexible hours, which include nights and weekends;
-Advanced degree or experience, which equates to an advanced degree; and
-Instructor certification in CPR/First Aid.
Typical Licensure
-Current CPR/AED/First Aid certifications and NATABOC certification.
-Employee must be eligible for the Virginia Athletic Trainer License.
Job Specific Physical and Cognitive Requirements
- Ability to lift < 20 lbs. Pushing/pulling, standing, sitting, repetitive motion, walking reaching, bending.
- Ability to work in a fast paced, extreme noise, with multiple stimuli and intense customer interaction.
