In response to a changing business world, in 2015-2016, the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Business launched a strategic plan to harness and build on strengths, ensure continued innovation and impact, and boldly ignite a collaborative energy among students, faculty, staff, alumni and the business community in Richmond and beyond.

The Business Essentials Unit in the School of Business at Virginia Commonwealth University is recruiting applicants for adjunct faculty positions for the course BUSN 225: Winning Presentations. This rigorous public speaking course is designed and taught by theatre professionals for undergraduate business students. It is an experiential course (REAL 2) using performance, storytelling, and team building techniques, leading students to discover their professional personal presentation styles. Class sizes are small and the courses are delivered in-person two or three days per week for fifteen weeks during the regular academic year.

Instructors are provided with a common syllabus shared across sections, for consistency in the curriculum. Instructors have ample room for autonomy to tailor lessons, assignments, and activities to their strengths and preferences.

We are seeking candidates with strong backgrounds in performance, education, and business. We are a passionate team of artists and educators committed to inspiring students to become the best version of themselves. Should funding for such adjunct teaching positions become available, the Undergraduate Studies Office will contact persons in the pool whose credentials match our teaching needs. This pool will be accessed only when an opening arises. Applicant credentials will remain active for one year after the date you submit them. After one year, if you are still interested in adjunct teaching, you must reapply to this adjunct pool. Note that we are unable to hire applicants who are not already in the pool.

Typical Duties
