Career Switcher Level I Instructor/Level II Coach

Position Responsibilities:

The School of Education is excited to invite candidates who will serve as a Career Switcher Instructor/Coach with the Office of Strategic Engagement. The Career Switcher Program is an accelerated educator preparation program that will move prospective teachers into the classroom early as full-time teachers. Career Switcher Instructors develop, design, and implement curriculum plans for students participating in the Career Switcher Program. Instructors teach an average of one course module per academic year in a blended learning environment. During Level I of the program, Career Switcher Instructors prepare and deliver instruction. During Level II of the program, Career Switcher Instructors serve as mentors to teachers during their first year of employment.

Required Qualifications:

- B.S. Degree or higher in specialized field;
- Demonstrated experience in teaching in a diverse learning environment;
- Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff and student environment or commitment to do so as a employee at VCU.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Master’s degree or higher in specialized field OR a Master’s degree or higher with eighteen (18) graduate hours in specialized field;
- Previous online and/or face to face teaching experience with adult learners;
- Experience using Blackboard, Canvas, or similar learning management platform;
- Secondary classroom experience.

Salary Range: $20-$23 /hr
