Clinical and Simulation Faculty

The mission of the School of Nursing is to shape the future of nursing through the power of education, discovery, and collaboration.

Chief Purpose of this position:

VCU School of Nursing is seeking candidates for a Clinical and Simulation faculty position. This 12-month term (non-tenure earning) faculty position is focused on clinical teaching, including dedicated time teaching in the clinical simulation laboratory. This position requires the incorporation of evidence-based practice into teaching and clinical activities and maintaining a commitment to serving the school of nursing, university, profession, and community.

Appointment to academic rank and salary are dependent on clinical nursing and teaching experience.

Position Responsibilities:

• Demonstrates commitment to contributing to VCU’s Quest 2025 (https://quest.vcu.edu/)
• Demonstrates excellence in clinical teaching (including clinical simulation learning) and service missions in an urban research-intensive university with an academic health sciences center
• Collaborates with faculty, staff, and other stakeholders to deliver quality clinical education
• Translates evidence into teaching to create learning activities that reflect best practices
• Contributes to development, implementation, and evaluation of the curriculum
• Engages faculty, students, and staff to foster a diverse community at VCU
• Manages details and problem resolution in a complex environment
• Develops and/or expands connections with agencies that facilitate learning experiences
• Maintains a commitment to serving the school of nursing, university, profession, and community
• Effectively communicates with students, faculty, and staff

Required Qualifications:

• Graduate degree in nursing
• Licensed or eligible for licensure as a registered nurse in Virginia
• Experience in a clinical practice role
• Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU

Preferred Qualifications:

• Doctoral Degree in Nursing or related field
• Experience in higher education including teaching, simulation instruction, accreditation, program review or assessment
• Record of accomplishments in professional service
• Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) certification or willing to acquire
