Job Summary

The Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice at Elmhurst University is looking for one or more adjuncts to teach in the Spring of 2022. All candidates should have an earned masters, PhD preferred, in sociology or criminal justice and a demonstrated mastery of effective pedagogical practices that ensure student success. Courses include:
  • Introduction to Sociology
  • Social Problems
  • Sociology/Criminal Justice Research Methods

All courses will be taught in person and review of applications will begin immediately and continue until suitable candidates are identified.

Essential Functions

Successful candidates will demonstrate a commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching. Responsibilities for this adjunct faculty position include course preparation, teaching, grading and being available to students who have questions or require extra help.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Master’s degree (PhD preferred) in Sociology, Social Work, Criminal Justice, or a related field.
2. A keen interest in engaging students and fostering their learning.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

Employee is subject to indoor work, protected from weather conditions. Work is sedentary in nature and involves exerting up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently/constantly in order to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move object.

Filled as needed. Ideally available for daytime teaching.
