The Department of Physics, Astronomy, Geosciences, & Engineering Technology in the College of Science and Mathematics seeks applicants for a tenure track faculty position specializing in all areas of Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering beginning August 1, 2022.  The selected candidate will be responsible for teaching courses in the candidate’s area of expertise, maintaining scholarly productivity, and participating in service at the department, college, and university levels.

The department is home to the Engineering Studies program, a two-year transfer program which provides a pathway for students to transition to the four-year engineering degree programs at Georgia Institute of Technology or other engineering programs in Georgia.  The department is also home to the newly-created B.S. RESPONSIBILITIES:

Teaching 12 credit hours of lectures and laboratories of Engineering Fundamentals, introductory Electrical Engineering courses, introductory Computer Engineering courses, service courses for the Institution (Physics or Physical sciences), as well as other classes related to their area of expertise in Electrical or Computer Engineering; maintaining scholarly productivity; and participating in service at the department, college, and university levels. 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ph.D. at the time of appointment in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely-related field;
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and learning, as well as scholarship;
  • Commitment to diversity and inclusion.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A record of effective teaching appropriate to the applicant’s career stage;
  • Ability to create new courses and related labs in electronics and robotics;
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative setting;
  • A record of mentoring students of diverse backgrounds.
