Position Summary:
Susquehanna University invites applications for a tenure track position at the rank of assistant professor to start in August 2022. Responsibilities include serving as director of the University Orchestra, teaching a conducting course, and teaching in a secondary area dependent upon candidate qualifications and departmental need. The successful candidate will participate fully in department activities, including recruiting students, hearing auditions, and attending recitals and concerts.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must have an earned doctorate in instrumental conducting (ABD considered) and at least one of the following qualifications in a secondary area: a degree in music education and at least three years of public school teaching experience; demonstrated success teaching theory and/or ear training in a classroom setting; demonstrated ability to teach in an applied instrumental area of departmental need. Demonstrated success or evidence of potential to excel in teaching and advising undergraduates is required as is ongoing scholarly and/or creative productivity and institutional service, including outreach and recruiting activities, especially in the public schools.
