Basic Function
Bakersfield College is seeking dedicated, experienced, and motivated individuals to provide leadership, engagement, and discipline expertise in continuing to move the program forward in innovative ways. As a full-time faculty member at Bakersfield College, successful candidates must be able to effectively develop and teach a broad spectrum of courses and have depth of knowledge in the discipline.

Disabled Student Programs & Services (DSPS) provides equal access to educational opportunities for students with disabilities. DSPS provides reasonable accommodations to students with documented physical, mental health, and learning disabilities who are enrolled in classes at Bakersfield College. The department provides accommodations and support services which may include, liaison with California State Department of Rehabilitation and other community resources, test taking assistance, special equipment, mobility assistance, note taking, assistive computer technology, special classes, sign language interpreters, written materials in an alternate format, and learning disability assessment. These services are intended to prepare and support students to participate on an equal basis with their non-disabled peers.

Representative Duties
This assignment may include teaching courses at various locations, different times, and with different modalities. Bakersfield College offers college courses in the greater Bakersfield area, rural communities, correctional facilities and high schools using the following modalities: traditional, face-to-face, online and interactive broadcasts.

Other duties include: participation in student recruitment and articulation, transfer programs; maintaining subject matter currency; developing and revising curriculum; using computer and technology; assessment of learning outcomes; collegial participation in departmental, college and discipline-specific professional activities.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1) Knowledge or experience in evaluating verification of disability documentation (educational, medical, etc.) to determine program eligibility.
2) Knowledge or experience utilizing the interactive process to identify functional limitations and arrange for appropriate and reasonable accommodations which address
those limitations.
3) Knowledge or experience in developing Academic Accommodation Plans (AAPs) for students with disabilities.
4) Knowledge of ADA and 504 guidelines.
5) Knowledge or experience in providing specialized academic, vocational/career and personal counseling services to adults with disabilities.

Minimum Qualifications
DSPS counselors must meet one of the following requirements based on Title 5 California Code of Regulations Section 53414:

1) Master's degree in rehabilitation counseling,

OR

2) Master's degree in counseling, guidance counseling, student personnel, clinical or counseling psychology, education counseling, social work, career development, marriage AND family therapy, marriage, family and child counseling,

OR - a Bachelor's degree in marriage and family therapy or in marriage, family and child counseling AND possession of a license as a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT); AND either fifteen or more semester units in upper division or graduate level course work specifically related to people with disabilities, or completion of six semester units, or the equivalent of a graduate-level counseling practicum or counseling field work courses, in a post-secondary Disabled Students Programs and Services (DSPS) Program or in a program dealing predominantly or exclusively with people with disabilities, or two years of full-time experience, or the equivalent, in one or more of the following;
a) Counseling for students with disabilities; or
b) Counseling in industry, government, public agencies, military or private social welfare organizations in which the responsibilities of the position were predominantly
or exclusively for persons with disabilities, or the equivalent.

SALARY RANGE $ 84,144.48 - $ 145,650.44 annuallyMaximum Entry Level Salary: $ 90,034.95 annually
