This position exists to provide full-time direction, guidance and support of the information technology needs of Auxiliary Service units within the university's network environment. The position is responsible for the supervision and operation of the university network/internet connections and the computer system(s) in the campus residence halls and University Village at Walking Stick. The position is responsible for maintaining hardware and software of the digitized university ID system, understanding and operation of the Dining Services access and debit system (CBORD-PCS), Housing Management system (HMS), Auxiliary Services event management software (EMS), and other emerging/future technology applications that may be potentially deployed. The position shall develop and conduct seminars for the purpose of providing students and staff with understanding of the technology that is implemented. It requires a strong ability to communicate with the campus community, especially students, and to maintain a high level of confidentiality.

Auxiliary Services provides dining and vending services, rental space, housing and childcare facilities, coordination of conference arrangements, and management of the Occhiato Student Center, including the Colorado State University Pueblo bookstore. Serving both the university’s internal and external public, Auxiliary Services supports the university’s strategic planning goals and objectives in its general operation focus of excellence, intellectual and civic engagement, creative functions and environment, information access, campus life enhancement, and positive service.

Primary Duties

  • Maintain the hardware and software of the university ID system, understand and operate technical software for access control, housing management, event scheduling, Bookstore sales and inventory, debit card sales, and future technology applications. Primary work performed in the Occhiato Student Center, Child Care Center, Residence Halls, and University Village at Walking Stick. Also provide support to the Information Technology Services (ITS) department for various requests in designated buildings on campus.
  • As the university's Residence Halls and University Village at Walking Stick technician, apply hardware and software, maintain continued service, and provide corrective action with necessary problem analysis, diagnosis, and resolution using industry and university ITS standard methods as they apply to hardware and software. Provide university computer desktop operational support to the Residence Halls and University Village at Walking Stick students. Hire, train, and supervise student staff.
  • As the Thunderwolf Recreation & Facilities technician, apply hardware and software, maintain continued service, and provide corrective action with necessary problem analysis, diagnosis, and resolution using industry and university ITS standard methods. Provide university computer desktop operational support.
  • Maintain and develop relationship with the Physical Plant to act as a backup technician for all CBORD card access issues across campus.
  • Provide support for all set-up and tear down of audio video and multimedia equipment for meetings, conferences, and events. Maintain surveillance system for those computer labs specified by the university administration.

Ancillary Duties

  • Develop and conduct seminars for the purpose of providing students and staff with the understanding of technology implemented. Provide assistance and operational support to Residence Hall residents to connect to the campus network, as needed.
  • Attend (ITS) staff meetings as requested, and ensure Auxiliary Services technology compliance with university ITS standards and network requirements.

 Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; working knowledge of Windows, LAN and wireless networks  
  • Strong trouble-shooting skills for PCs and peripherals

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of the CBORD systems, including PCS, HMS, and CS-Gold
  • Working knowledge of EMS, MBS, and Fusion software systems
  • Two years of technical support experience
