Regis University seeks an experienced, collaborative Associate Dean to provide leadership for the Division of Counseling and Family Therapy (DCFT). Consistent with a commitment to the health of the whole person, DCFT is housed in the Rueckert-Hartman College for Health Professions.   DCFT provides progressive, hands-on learning at the Thornton campus. Students have the option to pursue a CACREP accredited master’s degree in Counseling, a COAMFTE accredited master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, and three post-graduate certificates. Led by renowned faculty, the degrees and certificates prepare students for a profession in counseling or marriage and family therapy with an emphasis on social justice, consistent with Regis’ Jesuit mission.

In addition to didactic instruction, students engage in experiential learning throughout their course of study, including the opportunity to work in the state-of-the-art Regis Center for Counseling and Family Therapy, providing counseling and family therapy to community members under the live supervision of licensed faculty.

Regis is committed to a just and inclusive University environment. The Division invites applications from individuals who are underrepresented in the fields of Counseling and Family Therapy. We welcome candidates who bring diverse cultural, ethnic, gender-identity, ability-status, and religious perspectives to their work practice.

The Associate Dean will take a leadership role in the Division to create and maintain an educational environment that emphasizes training in recognition of privilege and marginalization, issues of equity, and individual and systemic forms of social justice intervention. The ability to promote a work environment that is respectful and encourages equity and inclusion is an essential duty of this position.

DCFT emphasizes excellent teaching, values-based social justice education, service learning, and scholarship. The focus of our programs is to prepare competent and effective practitioners, with an emphasis on: (a) excellent clinical skills that are informed by diverse theoretical traditions; (b) personal growth opportunities to encourage person-of-the-therapist competence and to facilitate an awareness of their own approach to therapy; and (c) an awareness of the construction of power and knowledge, and how to work therapeutically with dominant and oppressed people, systems, and ideas.

This is a 12-month position.  Anticipated start date:  August 2022.

Minimum Qualifications

  • An earned doctorate degree in Counselor Education and Supervision or Marriage and Family Therapy or similar, from an accredited institution;
  • Licensure (or license eligible in the state of Colorado), experience, and knowledge consistent with qualifications required by the Colorado State Department of Regulatory Agencies;
  • A record of proven leadership in previous academic or administrative positions;
  • Demonstrated record of commitment to issues related to social justice;
  • Experience as a faculty member, teaching for the disciplines of Counseling and Family Therapy, working with students similar to those in the DCFT;
  • A demonstrated record of scholarship, professional achievement and service reflective of the rank of Associate Professor or Professor;
  • Experience with CACREP and/or COAMFTE accredited degree programs.
