The C.S. Mott Center in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology is searching for a candidate at the level of Assistant Professor (Research) Track, to develop an area of thematics at the C.S. Mott center; which involves research on viral infection and pregnancy.

1. The candidate should have a well developed research program in this specific area.

2 Establish a successful collaborative research team .

3. Timely publication of completed research studies.

4. Mentor and guide junior members of research team.

5. Obtain external research funds from federal and non-federal sources.

6. Participate in the teaching programs of rotating medical students, residents, fellows and graduate students.

7. Participate in service assignments (C.S. Mott Center, Dept. Ob/Gyn; SOM; WSU).  

 

 

Unique Duties

  1. The candidate should have a well developed research infrastructure with in vitro and animal models that mimics human pregnancy complications due to viral infections.

    2. The candidate should have an established program for developing anti-viral therapies specific for infections during pregnancy that will benefit the fetus and new born.

    3. Lead a research effort in investigating the effect of viral infection on the development of the fetal immune system.

    4. Develop novel anti-viral agents for pregnant woman.  

 

 

Qualifications

  1. Ph.D. and/or MD degree.

    2. Possess successful track record of research accomplishments in the areas of reproductive immunology and viral infections.

    3. Strong background in the knowledge of viral infection during pregnancy and related activated pathways.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Have attained some external research funding as part of a team or independently.

    2. Extensive experience with CRISPR/Cas9 techniques to investigate the role of a specific gene of interest.

    3. Expertise in Interferon pathways, viral infection, mouse placenta and fetal dissection, reproductive immunology, anti-viral agent development, development of in vitro and mouse viral infection models.
