The School of Kinesiology announces the availability of a full-time (9 month) non-tenure track position at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor of Professional Practice in Sport Administration. The successful candidate will have a commitment to teaching excellence and service to the profession with experience that supports a strong potential for excellence in teaching undergraduate classes and contributing to the management of an undergraduate sport administration program. The appointment will be effective August 2022.

Assistant Rank Qualifications:  Earned doctorate in Sport Management, Sport Administration, or a related field by August 2022, with teaching experience in sport administration/management, evidence of the ability to advise undergraduate students, and strong communication skills. Preferred candidates will have teaching experience with a variety of course topics related to sport administration/management, evidence of service with department and/or profession-based committees, demonstrated experience of collaborating with community partners, experience working with diverse student populations, and some form of prior industry experience. ABD candidates with demonstrated undergraduate teaching experience will be considered.
 

Associate Rank Qualifications: Earned doctorate in Sport Management, Sport Administration, or a related field, with six or more years of teaching experience in higher education including several of the core topic areas identified by the Commission on Sport Management Accreditation (COSMA), strong communications skills, as well as experience in mentoring undergraduate students and supervising internships. Preferred candidates will have prior experience in administrative roles at a program-level, a strong understanding of higher education accreditation processes, demonstrated experience of collaborating with community partners, experience working with diverse student populations, and have some form of prior sport industry experience.

 

Responsibilities:  (1) teach sport administration courses at the undergraduate levels, (2) provide advisement to undergraduate students, (3) supervise student internship activities, and (4) participate in the continued development of the sport management program and the administration of the undergraduate program, and (5) serve on Department, College, University, and Profession-based committees as appropriate. The faculty member will contribute to the vision and mission of the School of Kinesiology.

Salary:  Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
