    Position Summary
    Under the direction of the Executive Assistant, McMorran House Events Manager, the McMorran House Coordinator and Special Events Manager is responsible for the planning, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of special events, including but not limited to events for the McMorran House, and select other University Advancement events. The Coordinator will be responsible for implementing the strategic plan developed by the Office of the President to engage the university's diverse internal and external audiences including the greater community, alumni, friends, faculty, staff, volunteers, and donors. In addition, this position will maintain a systematic goal-setting process and a formal evaluation procedure for Advancement events.

    The Coordinator also serves as the principal contact on all matters relating to the annual, monthly, and daily maintenance and upkeep of the president's residence, overseeing maintenance and ensuring that the public spaces of the residence are in a state of complete readiness at all times. This work requires a Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm schedule with regular onsite work on nights and weekends. Some events may also require the ability and availability to travel, including nights and weekends.

    Minimum Requirements
  • Two years' experience in professional event management

    Professional Competencies
  • Demonstrated ability to manage people, work effectively with volunteers and develop strategies to achieve operating goals
  • Demonstrated skills in project management and organization
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and design unique event themes
  • Ability to manage budgets and track expenditures, invoicing, managing risk, and presenting post-event reports
  • Skilled at procuring goods and services and negotiating contracts with vendors while organizing accreditation
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills using Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and follow-through
  • Ability to adapt as new situations arise
  • Ability to interact, communicate, and work effectively with individuals, recognizing and respecting the many and varied identities of each person
  • Commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion

    Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with the field of fundraising
  • Experience working in higher education
  • Familiarity with the University of Oregon and its constituents
