Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute
New York University Arts and Science
L. Carter Journalism Institute at New York University
invites applications for a full-time, mid-career tenure-track
faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor.
The Institute seeks an accomplished, innovative journalist with an
excellent record of publication to direct our interdisciplinary
Global Reporting M.A. Program. Because our faculty teaches both
undergraduate and graduate students, teaching experience is
desirable. Students in the Global Reporting program receive a
joint M.A. degree in Journalism and a companion department,
focusing on a specific field of area studies or international
relations. The Institute is particularly interested in candidates
with a strong record of international reporting and global
experience. We value a track record of substantive contributions to
diversity, equity and inclusion in the discipline or community. An
advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) is helpful, but not
required. Management or administrative experience is a plus.
The Institute has particular interest in candidates with
substantive, significantly researched book-length or documentary
projects in development.
The position start date is September 1, 2022 (pending
administrative and budgetary approval). Review of applications will
begin immediately and will continue until the position is
filled. For best consideration, materials should be
submitted by no later than November 15, 2021.
Please apply online with a cover letter to the search
committee that describes your research and teaching interests;
a resume or curriculum vitae including names and contact
information for your references; three samples of your work;
and a statement on your approach to diversity and inclusion.

ask that you address how diversity and inclusion factor
into past and present teaching, research, and/or community
engagement, as well as how you would bring issues of diversity to
bear on teaching and programming at NYU.
