Job Summary:

Essential Responsibilities:
30% - Utilizes basic equipment to repair and maintain basic machinery, equipment, and facility property under close supervision to prevent further damage and ensure optimal operation.
35% - Assists with routine facility inspections and monitors cleanliness.
10% - Escalates and documents issues according to established policies and procedures.
5% - Assists with inventory and distribution of deliveries to appropriate entities under close supervision.

Unique Responsibilities:
15% - Maintains and cleans residence halls, dining facilities, and immediate surrounding grounds and walkways.
5% - Responds to and resolves urgent or emergency elevator, mechanical, temperature, and safety issues in residence halls and dining units.

Tasks:
Communicates in English via radio, phone, written instructions, and in person with staff, residents, guests and supervisors.
Communicates with residents to address housing needs and service requests.
Completes work in occupied or vacant resident hall and dining spaces.
Demonstrates and role models exceptional customer service.
Maintains and implements prescribed cleaning standards.
Performs daily custodial work in a variety of University Housing buildings, including the efficient transportation of staff, moving of supplies, and responding to emergency situations.
Prepares, services and maintains residence hall and dining facilities for residents and guests.
Promotes and participates in a collaborative team environment.
Provides support and assist as needed in the implementation of plans and procedures in the event of an emergency.
Responds to safety concerns, fire alarms, fire panels, smoke detectors, and system operations in coordination with University Police and Fire.

Education:

Qualifications:

6 months of previous mechanical and repair experiences within an academic, commercial, or residential environment preferred.
3 months of previous cleaning, custodial, hospitality, or related experience within an academic, commercial, or residential environment preferred.
6 months of previous continuous employment preferred.
English proficiency required with the ability to speak, read, write, and understand verbal instructions.

This position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

Work Schedule:

Primary schedule for 3rd shift positions is 8:30pm-7:00am, consisting of 10 hour shifts on a rotational basis.

All 10 hour shifts include holidays and weekends on a rotating basis as a part of their normal schedule. Schedule alterations as operations and position expectations demand.
