Job Summary:

The College of Letters & Science Budget Office is a dynamic and collaborative office found within the College of Letters and Science. The largest college on the UW-Madison campus, L&S is a decentralized and diverse environment. This professional financial position reports to the Assistant Dean of Budget, Planning and Finance and will provide strategic financial guidance, procedure and policy interpretation and fund management oversight for college leadership as well as to L&S departments, centers and units.

This leadership opportunity will focus primarily on the oversight and management of more than 2000 University of Wisconsin Foundation, UW System Trust Fund, gift and non-sponsored grant accounts for the College. A significant role for this position is to provide financial management advice and guidance as a subject matter expert, serve as a liaison and represent the L&S Budget Office on committees and working groups and to assume a leadership role creating and presenting financial portfolios of resources available to college units.

Education:

Required
Associate's Degree
Bachelor's degree preferred with preference given to degrees in Business, Finance, Economics, Data Analysis or related fields.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 3 years professional experience required, preferably working in higher education administration, business management, financial management, finance, data analysis or related fields.

1. Comprehensive knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Demonstrated ability to apply GAAP standards in a business setting.
2. Demonstrated computer expertise with a variety of software programs including an advanced working knowledge of the full Microsoft Office Suite.
3. Proficiency in Excel and ability to create complex spreadsheets and reports.
4. Ability to use strong analytical skills to accurately interpret and analyze financial data and effectively communicate summarized results.
5. Demonstrated analytical and organizational skills, strong problem solving and creative skills, highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
6. Ability to take initiative, accept responsibility, show accountability, and maintain integrity and confidentiality.
7. Ability to establish and maintain excellent team-work relationships and communication with other employees and a good rapport with faculty, staff and students.
