Job Summary/Basic Function:
Development Officer works with the Major Gifts and Gift Planning Team to further the department’s fundraising goals. This position requires the skills to qualify, cultivate, solicit and steward alumni, parents and friends who are capable of making leadership and/or planned gifts. Some travel may be required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree required. Candidate should have 1-3 years of fundraising experience with a non-profit, including face to face solicitations and experience in relationship building and soliciting four and five-figure gifts. Equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Strong computer skills and the ability to prioritize and work independently is needed. Excellent communication skills including writing and speaking are important to this position.
Preferred Qualifications:
Ideal candidate is interested in working with prospects and donors to promote leadership gifts to the college. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, and experience with Raisers Edge NXT software are a plus. The ability to adapt to new technologies, and handle confidential matters with integrity, tact and discretion is preferred. Teamwork, collaboration, and a sense of humor are a regular component of this role. The ability to comfortably interact with faculty, staff, students, donors, prospects and volunteers is an asset.
Candidate must be willing to travel independently by car, train and airplane.
