Job Summary

JCCC is looking for applicants for a part-time faculty position in the Astronomy Department. The ideal candidate would be expected to instruct students in lecture and/or lab for either Fundamentals of Astronomy or Astronomy. The ideal candidate would need to be able to teach face-to-face and online starting in Spring 2022. Teaching assignments could be any combination of face-to-face, online or using teleconference software like Zoom. All applications must be be submitted to the JCCC jobs portal.

Required Qualifications

Master's degree with 18 graduate hours in Astronomy or Physics
Computer literacy including ability to communicate and develop teaching materials and enter grades electronically
Demonstrate familiarity with the use of appropriate computer software
Demonstrate fluency in written and oral communications
Demonstrate familiarity with the use and care of telescopes and related equipment
One year of college-level teaching experience in astronomy or physics

Preferred Qualifications

Master's or Doctorate degree in Astronomy or Physics
Community college teaching experience in astronomy or physics
