General Summary
The Elementary Education program is seeking an Assistant/Associate Professor in Elementary Education who has shown commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion and access (EDI-A) in teaching, scholarly, and service contexts. Commitment to EDI-A is integral to the responsibilities of this position, which include: teaching undergraduate courses with the potential to teach graduate courses; producing high quality scholarship; and working in collaborative partnerships with public school professionals.

SCHOOL OF TEACHING AND LEARNING
The School of Teaching and Learning faculty is a vibrant group of
diverse, high-quality scholars and educators who are committed to
developing innovative pedagogies and shared leadership in
education. The University has been developing teachers both within
and outside the state of Illinois for over 150 years. University
lab schools and local school partnerships offer opportunities for
authentic and connected classroom experiences to enhance
preparation of pre-service teachers. The faculty of the School of
Teaching and Learning is committed to continuing its leadership at
the state, national, and international levels. The School has 39
full-time tenure-track faculty in teacher education programs at the
undergraduate, masters, and doctoral levels who work
collaboratively with colleagues in four other Colleges on campus,
public schools, and communities.

Required Qualifications
- Terminal degree or ABD in a relevant field with a completion date prior to faculty appointment.
- Minimum of 3 years teaching experience in 1st through 6th grades.
- Demonstrated potential for scholarly research in teaching and learning (established record of scholarship if applying at the Associate level).
- Expertise in critical and inquiry-based elementary social studies methods.
- Expertise in anti-bias/anti-racist and culturally sustaining pedagogies in elementary classrooms.
- Candidates must be able to demonstrate oral proficiency in the English language as a requirement for this position, as mandated by state law.
