Job Summary:
Provides assistance to students in their study of accounting. May demonstrate and instruct students in the use of computers and a variety of computer software, applications, and online homework sites. Maintains a positive, student-centered learning environment.

Education and Experience:
- Position requires an AAS in Accounting Technology or equivalent.
- Strong subject matter knowledge in area of academic assistance provided.
- Strong communication skills.
- Skills interacting with diverse students with varying abilities, learning styles, and personalities.
- Must have knowledge of the accounting subjects taught sufficient enough to help and support the instructional programs.
- Requires knowledge of Windows, Excel, and QuickBooks.
- Must be able to work respectfully with individuals of all cultures, backgrounds, perspectives, and abilities.
Knowledge and Skills :
- Strong subject matter knowledge in area of academic assistance provided.

- Skills in interacting with diverse students with varying abilities, learning styles, and personalities.
Abilities:
- Must be able to independently perform the essential responsibilities of the position.
- Must be able to understand the needs and differences of students and appropriately respond to those needs.
- Requires the ability to shift rapidly between questions from widely different areas.
- Ability to operate general office equipment, including computers with word processing and spreadsheets may be required.
Working knowledge of instructional practices and techniques sufficient to tutor students on an informal level, including students with disabilities. Basic knowledge of LBCC curriculum and procedures. Current LBCC students who are familiar with LBCC courses may be given preference.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Requires the ability to operate computers and other office equipment. Requires the ability to read words and numbers and sufficient hearing and the ability to communicate with staff and students.
Work is performed in various campus learning centers or labs with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards. Some positions may require evening and/or weekend hours.
Essential Duties:
- Performs specialized lab support for a variety of accounting courses, both on campus and virtually Assists students in accomplishing assigned homework, preparing for exams, and completing accounting projects.
- Stays familiar with standard assignments and course requirements. Stays in contact with faculty throughout the term.
- Encourages and promotes a supportive learning environment. Promotes student’s self-reliance, independent problem-solving, effective learning strategies and study skills.
- May provide assistance with use of relevant technology such as spreadsheets and other computer applications within their area of proficiency.
- Meet regularly with the college’s Learning Center tutors and engage with relevant technology and protocols to support best tutoring practices. Keep records of student contact.
- May distribute feedback survey and end-of-course surveys as requested.
- May inform students about courses, and center or lab procedures.
- Completes scheduled training and attends meetings as needed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
