We are seeking a passionate, mid-career Obstetrics and Gynecology physician for the leadership position as Division Chief of our Generalist Division at Harborview Medical Center. This position will be full-time at the Associate Professor (WOT) without tenure by reason of funding or Professor (WOT) without tenure by reason of funding level on a 12 months service period (July 1 - June 30). This position will also be responsible for direct patient care in general obstetrics and gynecology and will have ample opportunities for scholarly work in education, QI and/or research. This individual will work in an ambulatory clinic site with a diverse patient population and in L&D and the OR with medical students and residents and will participate in resident and medical student education including clinical teaching, didactics, simulation activities, and QI/Patient safety. The successful candidate will be expected to provide care at multiple sites and to take night and weekend call and provide high-quality, compassionate care to a diverse patient population and the successful candidate will be expected to engage in excellent education, leadership, mentorship and research consistent with the academic mission of the University of Washington.

Harborview Medical Center is a comprehensive healthcare facility dedicated to providing specialized care for a broad spectrum of patients from throughout the Pacific Northwest, including the most vulnerable residents of King County. A large percentage of the patient population is non-English speaking. HMC serves as a safety-net hospital and provides over $250 million in uncompensated care each year.

The anticipated start date is July 1, 2022.  Rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. We offer a competitive salary with excellent benefits. All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching and service.

Qualifications
  • MD, DO degree or foreign equivalent
  • Board certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology or foreign equivalent
  • An excellent record of clinical service
  • Experience in managing complex gynecologic referrals including surgical proficiency in both laparoscopy and open procedures
  • Experience in obstetric and gynecologic emergencies and trauma 
  • Demonstration of prior outstanding administrative work and leadership in within an academic setting
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills
  • Experience in team-based care

In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
