Yeshiva University (YU or Yeshiva) seeks an exceptional and experienced financial leader to serve as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO). The CFO will lead and strengthen Yeshiva’s finances to enable sustainable growth and realization of the institution’s mission to transform students’ lives and prepare them for leadership roles and professional success.

Founded in 1886, YU is the world’s premier Jewish research university. Faith-based undergraduate schools bring together Jewish study with academic excellence and achievement in the Liberal Arts, Sciences and in Business. Its graduate programs in Law, Social Work, Business, Jewish Studies, Jewish Education, Psychology, Science, and Technology prepare students to have a positive impact on the community, the country, and the world.  National and international students are eager to study at a top-ranked US News and World Report university with rich traditions and values

Currently, YU enrolls more than 5,000 students, including roughly 2,000 undergraduates, across four campuses in New York City and one campus in Israel. The operating budget is approximately $220 million, and the university’s endowment value is currently above $600 million.

Rabbi Dr. Ari Berman began his tenure as YU’s fifth president in June 2017. During his tenure, the university has introduced more than 20 new graduate degrees in emerging fields including Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security, Physician Assistant, Biotech Management, and Real Estate Management. Additional programs, many online, have been created to meet the needs of society such as Special Education, Marriage and Family Therapy, and Holocaust and Genocide Education. These programs have resulted in significant enrollment growth as well as in philanthropic gifts, including funding for the Shevet Glaubach Center for Career Strategy and Professional Development, the Innovation Lab, new Physician Assistant and Occupational Therapy labs as well as state of the art Computer Science labs.

This is a pivotal moment for YU. Under Dr. Berman’s visionary leadership, the university has been executing a strategic plan to successfully navigate a financially challenging period and has been improving its financial results over the past several years. Additionally, it has a successful investment strategy that has yielded substantial returns over the past few years. YU has ambitious goals with great opportunity for growth and prosperity in the coming years. This is a special opportunity for an experienced, creative, and mission-driven financial leader to play a key role in the future success of a world-renowned research university with remarkable students, faculty, and staff committed to making a positive impact on the world.

As the chief steward of YU’s financial resources, the CFO’s top priorities will be to bring vision and a long-term strategic perspective to the financial management of Yeshiva, ensure adequate funding for strategic priorities, embrace transparency and collaboration, ensure optimal financial systems, and empower and support a dedicated, talented staff. The CFO will be an active and contributing member of the YU community.

The ideal candidate will be a seasoned, innovative, and intuitive financial leader with extensive experience in a complex organization, preferably in a higher education setting. A comprehensive understanding of the trends and best practices in higher education financial operations and systems in addition to sharply honed skills in a wide range of finance disciplines are essential, as well as experience with the development and successful execution of long-term, enterprise-level financial leadership in support of key strategic priorities and initiatives. The ideal candidate for this role must be an excellent communicator with exceptional relationship-building skills, a commitment to the highest ethical and professional standards, and with a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and collegially in a diverse, strongly mission driven academic community.
