Job Description

The University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) School of Medicine seeks candidates for the position of Assistant/Associate Teaching Professor for the Master of Medical Science (MMS) Physician Assistant (PA) program. This is a 12-month, ranked, full time, benefit-eligible, non-tenure track position.Teaching excellence, innovation, and service-learning are the norm through interprofessional and community partnerships at the School of Medicine. The UMKC PA program is recognized for high quality instruction to a diverse student body, established curriculum, community service, and professional stewardship. This 29-month (7-semester) program admits 20 students per cohort, resulting in a manageable student-to-faculty ratio.

PA faculty members teach with and are supported by other School of Medicine faculty who are experts in their fields of academic medicine and biomedical sciences.

Responsibilities

As a member of the principal faculty and per ARC-PA standards, the experienced clinician and educator will work under the direction of the Program Director. They will work extensively with other program faculty and the medical director to develop, coordinate, and deliver the physician assistant curriculum, with particular focus on supporting students from historically marginalized backgrounds. The content will be consistent with accreditation standards, the NCCPA blueprint, and the PAEA topic list. The individual will collaborate with a dedicated faculty to implement an array of teaching and evaluation strategies. Additional duties include student academic advising, professional development, admission activities, participation in the program’s ongoing self-study, accreditation, assessment, continuous improvement processes, and university service activities.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum requirements for this position include graduation from an accredited PA program, hold or working toward a master’s degree, eligibility for Missouri PA licensure, and current NCCCPA certification.
