Job Summary

The successful fellow will work on projects related to social and environmental determinants of health, place and health, and urban health more broadly, including cross-city and cross-national comparisons of urban health indicators under the supervision of Dr. Alex Ezeh, professor of Global Health in the Department of Community Health and Prevention (CHP) at the Dornsife School of Public Health (DSPH). The fellow will work collaboratively with other faculty at DSPH’s Urban Health Collaborative (UHC), as well as with faculty and data scientists engaged in multisite and collaborative projects at institutions throughout Africa.

This work will leverage existing data sources including satellite, GIS, and household data to analyze trends and patterns of health disparities in urban Africa and how a variety of health outcomes scale with city size or city growth, and the factors that predict these scaling behaviors. The fellow will join an interdisciplinary and collaborative team of researchers across multiple institutions to conduct analyses of existing data and write papers. The fellow will also be expected to lead publications and develop their own research ideas. The fellow will meet weekly or biweekly with Dr. Ezeh. Financial support will be available for travel to present results at scientific meetings (if travel safely resumes). Given the current circumstances, the position will start remotely until Drexel resumes in-person work.
