Department Statement
The Office of Communications tells the Colgate story. We strengthen the University’s presence and reputation among external and internal audiences through our strategic direction of the Colgate identity and its core messaging platforms. Our office oversees all official University integrated marketing programs and communications and is responsible for curating and creating content for Colgate Magazine; for digital outlets including the University’s website, mobile apps, and social media; for admission and advancement publications; and media relations campaigns. Accountabilities
The digital production specialist supports digital communications efforts campus wide, and is responsible for the timely templating, appearance, distribution, and analysis of web pages, emails, mobile app modules, and other communications to support strategic communications. The specialist is the campus expert in email building and best practices, providing training and support for other users of campus web content management and email marketing systems.

The specialist researches and recommends technical solutions to support digital initiatives within the University’s communications office. The specialist integrates visual and written content to produce web pages, email communications, and mobile experiences to meet design specifications while adhering to current best practices in areas such as accessibility, search engine optimization, usability, and responsive design.

The position will work with web content management systems, email marketing platforms, mobile app platforms, public calendaring systems, digital map platforms, and more. Professional Experience/ Qualifications
- A minimum of two years of work experience in a relevant discipline is required
- Expertise in HTML
- Expertise in CSS
- Experience with email templating
- Basic understanding of responsive digital frameworks
- Search engine optimization ( SEO )
- Familiarity with web accessibility ( WCAG 2.1)
- Basic understanding of Javascript Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with site building and theming in Drupal
- PHP
- Basic understanding of APIs
- Basic understanding of graphic design and graphics animation Education
