PROD – TENURE TRACK CINEMATOGRAPHY ASSISTANT PROFESSOR

Loyola Marymount University’s School of Film and Television invites applications for an Assistant Professor, tenure track position in Cinematography in their Department of Film and Television Production. This is a full-time faculty role with competitive salary and benefits. MFA is required. The position is anticipated to start in August, 2022.  

The successful candidate will be skilled in both the theory and practice of digital and film-based image capture, and will demonstrate an ability to think, work, and teach across traditional, contemporary, and emerging media modes of production (fiction and non-fiction). Also preferred is knowledge of image design and capture for virtual production and other emerging techniques including, but not limited to, augmented reality, 360 video, and visual effects (e.g. motion capture/compositing) in their most prevalent forms. 

Areas of teaching in cinematography, both at the graduate and undergraduate level, include: introductory, intermediate, and advanced cinematography as well as electives.  The candidate will be expected to participate in expanding cinematography offerings beyond our already established courses with a particular emphasis on offerings that correspond to the technological developments made in the motion picture arts and media production industries. The candidate will be expected to teach the required full-time teaching load of three (3) courses per semester. The successful candidate will be expected to teach, continue their creative work, and provide service to the University.

Degree Requirements:

MFA in Film/TV Production or a related field is required.

Prior Teaching Experience (YEARS)

Previous teaching experience required – either university-level or industry professional workshops.
