Job Description:

The Department of History and Political Science at York College of Pennsylvania invites applications for a full-time one-year renewable position in 20th/21st Century American History and Public History/Digital Humanities at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning Fall 2022. The department is seeking a scholar with primary expertise in the history of race in 20th and/or 21st Century America and the ability to contribute to the department's new and growing major in Public History. The successful candidate will teach upper-level undergraduate courses in 20th/21st Century American history, as well as at least one undergraduate public history and/or digital humanities course per academic year. Ability to teach a course in North American Environmental History would be especially welcome (but is not required). In addition, the successful candidate will teach introductory American history courses in support of the College's general education program. The standard teaching load is four course sections per semester.


Requirements:

A record of excellence in teaching and advising and strong research credentials or potential are required.

A Ph.D. in history or a related field (such as but not limited to African American Studies, Ethnic Studies, or American Studies) is expected by August 2022.
