The Director of Digital Strategy will lead a team to define scope and recommendations for the university’s flagship digital properties, social media platforms and partner sites. This position will play an advisory role on partner engagements, serving as a digital strategy advisor. They will serve as a thought leader in aligning holistic digital marketing strategy with business goals/objectives and drive high-level discussions to make strategy recommendations based on the goals of the university and its entities. They will be a key partner to schools, colleges, and university wide programs as they solidify and enhance their digital presence. An excellent communicator with a sense of empathy and human context to drive sensitive insights that help design solutions that serve audience needs. A positive team player with the ability to strategically and operationally lead teams to develop and implement digital strategies (web, social and digital platforms) within established university guidelines. The director will manage digital strategists, interactive design, and the social media team. They will drive adoption of accessibility, process, and policy standards, supporting digital best practices and key digital metrics. They will train, mentor, and onboard new members of the digital strategy team. Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred but not required.

• Seven (7) plus years of experience in digital marketing. Higher education experience a plus.

• Five (5) plus years of effective management/leadership experience.

• Five (5) plus years of experience developing and implementing digital strategies.

• Five (5) plus years of experience developing and implementing social media strategies preferred. Job Specific Qualifications
• Experience creating digital strategies and presenting executive reports/presentations to high level executives.

• Demonstrated ability to motivate, influence and collaborate at all levels of a large, complex organization.

• Effective verbal and written communication skills combined with the ability to explain technical information to non-technical users.

• Capable of juggling multiple tasks and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

• Ability to translate web analytics, search data, and expert knowledge into insights and recommendations.

• Proven track-record of success, increasing responsibility and relationship building.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Working knowledge of Google Analytics, Tag Manager, and SEO Tools such as Moz.

• Working knowledge of SEO tactics and standards.

• Highly organized and efficient. Responsibilities
• Direct, craft, manage and execute the university’s overarching digital strategy (web, social, etc.) as part of larger integrated marketing strategies.

• Consult and provide guidance to partners on digital strategy, information architecture, user experience, governance, and brand.

• Ensure that the diverse portfolio of digital properties support the strategic priorities of the University and the division of Marketing and Communications.

• Use research and analytics to inform digital strategies.

• Manage team of Digital Strategists, interactive/UX Designer and social media strategists to partner, plan, develop, curate, and manage digital strategies on flagship digital properties and in close collaboration with divisional colleagues on partner sites.

• Oversees cross-functional University-wide projects and initiatives bringing together multiple stakeholders and help drive decisions.

• Proofs, approves, and facilitates executive review and approval process.

• Uses research and analytics to inform digital strategies and make recommendations.

• Ensures strategies support user experience, SEO goals, information architecture and brand standards, web style guidelines, accessibility, legal and compliance requirements.

• Research, approve and train select external resources to provide partners with digital vendors for implementation/services.

• Work with project managers and strategists to ensure timelines and deadlines are met.

• Exhibits excellent judgement, collaboration skills and attention to detail.

• Uses solid practices for digital testing for optimization.

• Maintains expertise and serves as subject matter expert on modern digital industry trends and best practices to influence and innovate across the breadth of our digital portfolio.
