Opening Details

Williams Dining is hiring a First Cook located in Mission Park Dining Hall. This is a full time, year round position with an initial schedule of 10:30am - 7:00pm, Sunday -- Thursday. The schedule is subject to change based upon the needs of the department.

Under the supervision of the Senior Operations Manager, the you will work as part of a team on all aspects of the kitchen for student board and campus events. You will be responsible for assisting with the overall function of the kitchen as it pertains to food quality preparation, temperatures, tastes, appearance and garnishing, as well as overall sanitation of kitchen, equipment, and storage areas.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure all food items on the service line are accurately labelled for food allergens, generated from FSS utilizing Net Nutrition and Bartender program.
  • Ensure the daily utilization of LeanPath Waste Reporting System for pre-consumer waste.
  • Exhibits culinary talents and staff training opportunities by personally preparing some of the daily menu items while assisting in leading the staff and managing all food related functions to ensure a consistent, high quality product is produced.
  • Oversees special allergen and dietary meals for the dinner shift.
  • Accurately records food actuals production information at end of each meal period utilizing CBORD/FSS system.
  • Ensures prepared food is covered and stored properly per MA Food Code.


Qualifications
  • Minimum of five years of experience in food service operation including food production, service, sanitation, and forecasting
  • Possess strong customer service skills
  • Willingness to follow a flexible schedule
  • Ability to relate to customers and staff in a professional manner
  • Ability to work independently and part of a team, solve problems and organize details is necessary
  • Experience with a computerized food service management system (FSS/CBORD, BarTender preferred) and proficiency in Excel and Word
  • Completion of a formal culinary training program is desirable
  • Serve Safe and/or HACCP federal guideline certification is necessary, Allergen Awareness certification preferred or to be obtained
  • Ability to lift boxes and bags (up to 40 lbs) overhead to shelves up to 5 ft and ability to stand and move about the space for prolonged periods
