The Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion is a strategic leader responsible for supporting improved student outcomes through theEquity in Access and Success Planwithin the College’s Strategic Plan. The Director advises and partners with leadership to establish organizational strategies to broadly align people, policies, and systems with the College’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion ( DEI ) statements. This position champions key initiatives in alignment with the strategic plan to support a diverse student body and community including returning adult working parents, veterans, students with disabilities, and representation across racial, ethnic, gender, and sexual orientation. A primary responsibility will be to achieve policy alignment with College diversity, equity, and inclusion standards in relation to organizational values, strategic priorities, talent development. A significant responsibility also includes cultivating collaborative strategic partnerships and building community relationships to ensure efforts are inclusive of the voices those the College serves. The Director contributes to improved outcomes for students, employees and the overall campus community through an equitable and inclusive campus climate. The Director will perform their duties consistent with the National Association of Diversity Officers in Higher Education ( NADOHE ) Standards of Professional Practice.

Required Qualification
Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in social/restorative justice, post-secondary education, sociology, public administration, organizational leadership or a related field and a minimum of five (5) years of leading or teaching diversity, equity and inclusion subject matter or related topics.

OR

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in social/restorative justice, post-secondary education, sociology, public administration, organizational leadership or a related field and a minimum of ten (10) years of leading or teaching diversity, equity and inclusion subject matter or related topics.

Demonstrated experience in influencing and leading transformational institutional initiatives aimed to improve student success outcomes.

Demonstrated experience as a strategic thought partner to senior leadership and institution-wide collaborator on DEI strategy, plan implementation and engagement.

Demonstrated experience fostering an inclusive and equitable learning and work environment in a diverse setting.

Demonstrated success in developing and maintaining DEI community-based partnerships with outside entities such as secondary and post-secondary educational institutions, workforce employers, local municipalities and community organizations.

Demonstrated ability to establish an effective rapport with current and potential students as well as College leadership, faculty and, staff.

Excellent organizational skills, with special attention to details.

Demonstrated ability to multi-task and meet deadlines while working independently.

Demonstrated ability to exercise sound independent judgment and discretion within assigned role to complete assignments and maintain confidential information.

Excellent oral, interpersonal and written communications skills including strong public speaking and presentation skills

Demonstrated commitment to student and employee success and the open access mission of community colleges.

Demonstrated professional experience using evidence-based decision-making, short and long-term planning, project management and working within an accountability structure. Desired Qualifications
Certification or specialized training in diversity, equity and inclusion.

Mentoring students in their individual equity learning and development journeys.

Professional experience working at a community college.

Experience teaching at the secondary and/or post-secondary level.

Bi-lingual Spanish.

Applicants will be required to submit a minimum of two (2) letters of recommendation. Pay Rate Salary, benefits, and other terms and conditions of employment are highly competitive and will be commensurate with the candidate’s background and experience. Student and Employee Success (50%)

Advise, collaborate, and initiate strategic processes that support the matriculation, persistence, graduation/completion, and success outcomes of students, with a focused interest on increasing the equity and inclusion experiences of all students especially for marginalized and disenfranchised students.

Serve as a consultant to faculty, leaders and staff from the Center for Teaching and Learning as well as Academic and Student Development divisions to support inclusive excellence in the curriculum, instructional strategies and service in and out of the classroom through the implementation of culturally responsive andragogy and scholarly activities supporting diversity, equity and inclusion.

Work closely with the Integrated Marketing and Enrollment Team and the Lancer (student) Success Council in the recruitment and retention of our diverse student body.

Serve as consultant to Student Life in co-curricular engagement including high-impact practices that serve a diverse student body.

Support identified strategies to remove barriers faced by under-served students including those outlined in the College’sEquity and Student Access and Success Plan. Collaborate and partner with all College units, governance groups, student organizations and external partners to design programs under the strategies that result in improved student outcomes and employee engagement.

Lead and partner with talent development areas of the college to implement comprehensive programming within the employee success framework and faculty success framework to make the College a more equitable, inclusive community and measure the impact on student and employee success outcomes.

Provides support to Human Resources staff for both structural and programmatic initiatives to expand integration of the College’s DEI culture into institutional employment and workplace practices, including emerging best practices for recruiting and retaining faculty and staff.

Plan and host public events on the subject of equity and inclusion on campus. This may include the utilization of internal talent or feature external guests who are invited to campus to broaden the horizon of all members of the College community.

Lead and contribute to on-going efforts to create a culture of care that is supportive of all faculty, staff and students inclusive of all intersecting identities through mechanisms to assess and mitigate harassment.

Strategic Leadership and Project Management (40%)

Provide leadership through strategic planning, process development and accountability that reflects diversity, equity and inclusion as an integral part of the College’s culture.

Guide and collaborate with core groups within the shared governance structure and organizational units that oversee key equity, and inclusion initiatives to build infrastructure and systems that integrate and uphold DEI strategies to achieve a welcoming and supportive campus community.

Serve as a strategic thought leader with the president and executive team on a comprehensive plan, the integration of best practices and the creation of immersive broad college-wide engagement experiences that lead to equitable treatment of students and employees.

Oversee periodic assessments of the campus climate and use results to design programs and interventions to improve culture.

Lead the College in the annual review of college policies and procedures with an equity and inclusion lens/ framework.

Build strategic community partnerships and support external efforts with P20, community organizations, municipalities, county government, and workforce.

In partnership with the Institutional Effectiveness Planning and Research staff monitor, analyze and report on the college’s diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives and identified metrics.

Establish an internal audit process and reporting system to allow for effective measurement of College diversity and equity efforts and produce reports to the College community.

Oversee periodic assessments of the campus climate and use results to design programs and interventions to improve culture.

Present data and recommendations to the College Leadership Team, Board of Trustees or other internal or external constituents’ groups as required.

Other (10%)

Participate and/or serve on key shared governance groups across all campus locations including but not limited to Diversity Council, Lancer (Student) Success Council, Student Government Association, Enrollment Management Commission, Human Resources Commission and Leadership Council.

Serve on external professional associations and community tasks forces as necessary to advance the College DEI strategy and student success.

Attend relevant external conferences, webinars and educational programs and share and integrate the knowledge gained to contribute to support equity and inclusion efforts at the College.

Perform other related duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Vice President of Strategy, Planning and Support.
