The Director of Esports will oversee all aspects and serve as
the sole administrator of the BCC Esports program. The Director is
responsible for promoting a comprehensive and sustainable Esports
program that advances the five pillars of Competition, Academics
& Research, Community, Entertainment, and Career Development.
The program should combine high-level competition against other
colleges and universities; recruitment of academically eligible
elite gamers; the operations of a training facility and arena;
engagement with faculty to explore research opportunities related
to video games; support of the BCC gaming community and addressing
social justice issues related to games and Esports; create live
events and digital content around the program; connect BCC students
to jobs and opportunities in the video game and Esports industries;
and seeks external fundraising and scholarship opportunities. The
Director will also oversee staff, coaches, the Esports training
facility, athletes, marketing, finances and event planning
responsibilities associated with the program.
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education,
training, and experience. 3 years of experience in the video
game and or Esports industry. Significant administrative and
student activities programming experience in an institution that
has a diverse student enrollment. Extensive related experience in
student affairs program development and management, fundraising,
and judgment based on professional and/or academic expertise
desirable. Knowledge and understanding of Esports. Ability to
provide consultation and training to members of the Esports team.
Skill is required to establish professional work relationships with
all units and campus personnel, clients, members of the public and
off campus agencies in a respectful manner consistent with the
goals of campus and community organizations. Excellent presentation
and training skills. Excellent oral and written communication
skills to convey thoughts and ideas clearly and effectively.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; to
develop and monitor a budget; to plan and administer educational
programming; to establish and sustain communication with faculty
and staff regarding the needs of students; to appropriately
interpret and act on goals in response to the inquiries and needs
of related University agencies. Must have a demonstrated commitment
to diversity and multicultural programs and student development
theory. Advanced skill to research, collect and analyze data.
Ability to assess and manage risk. Skill to successfully manage the
business components of the program. Ability to develop plans to
meet goals across all areas of the program. Effective marketing
skills. Ability to work independently, set priorities, meet
deadlines and work on various projects and programs concurrently.
Excellent political acumen demonstrated by the ability to
successfully navigate complex networks of relationships and to work
with a high level of cultural competence and sensitivity. Strong
interpersonal and organizational skills. Ability to develop and
maintain positive working relationships with students, staff
personnel, academic personnel, and officials of external agencies
and the general public. Strong leadership skills to develop and
pursue the vision for the program. Ability to effectively develop
and manage the work team. Demonstrated experience in handling
complex and sensitive student issues with regard to donors,
scholarships and internships. Professional judgment to interpret
and implement Brookdale’s policies and procedures desirable.
Ability to travel within the county and state. Knowledge of
Monmouth County, NJ and its communities.
Annual Salary $79,362 with benefits
