Job Summary:
This position exists to ensure that the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics achieves its mission of providing quality support services for student-athletes in the areas of academic support, athletics eligibility, athletics recruitment and student-athlete development. This role is responsible for but not limited to managing academic support programs and initiatives; coordinating regular reports and presentations on demographics, trends, benchmarks, outcomes, and academic success; overseeing student-athlete development initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibility
• Coordinates and monitors academic activities in the Department of Athletics in conjunction with the Office of Compliance and the Faculty Athletics Representative;
Supervises the Marauder Academic Center
• Monitors student-athletes progress toward degree.
• Conduct review of prospective student-athletes transcripts to determine academic preparedness.
• Coordinates and conducts academic education sessions with coaches, staff and stakeholders;
• Educate student-athletes and department members about NCAA and SIAC rules and regulations through various methods (e.g. rule education meetings).
• Assist in completing NCAA and SIAC documentation as required and according to established procedures.
• Work closely with the Director of Athletics and Compliance area to establish academic protocols that ensure retention, course completion and college completion.
• Works closely with student-athletes and other university units to ensure a supportive academic environment.
• Confirms student-athlete full-time enrollment.
• Identifies and monitors issues affecting student-athlete eligibility and retention.
• Meets with at-risk student-athletes and develops academic improvement plans in consultation with the Faculty Athletics Representative.
• Serves as initial point of contact for student-athletes wishing to apply to Central State University.
• Monitors roster changes, study hall, and referrals to campus entities for student-athlete academic support.
• Perform any other duties and/or jobs deemed necessary for the functioning and success of the Department of Athletics.

General Athletic Department:
• Serve on various departmental and institutional committees as requested.
• Other duties as required/assigned by the Director of Athletics. Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree required

• Strong leadership, management and supervisory skills
• Expected to learn NCAA guidelines and compliance policies and procedures
• Working knowledge of MS Word, Power Point, and Excel programs
• Ability to learn and operate BANNER student information system or equivalent
• Ability to perform in a highly sensitive, fast-paced environment
• Must be able to work flexible hours for required travel with sports programs and annual training
• Must be appreciative and willing to work in a diverse student environment
