The Department of Communication, Media, and Performance at Framingham State University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Social Media, Digital Advertising, and Public Relations beginning in the Fall Semester of 2022.

Full-time faculty are expected to serve on university committees, advise students, and participate in departmental administration and curriculum development, while contributing to the vibrancy of the intellectual and creative community of the university.

The ideal candidate will be able to teach courses in Advertising, Public Relations, Social Media, Organizational Communication, and Leadership Communication. The candidate will be excited to develop additional courses about the intersection of digital media with public relations, organizational communication, and civics. They will also be passionate about the pedagogy of diversity and underrepresented communities.



Job Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Doctoral degree or MFA with substantial professional experience positioning the candidate as an expert in digital communication. Candidates without terminal degree in-hand will be considered, but a doctorate, MFA, or other terminal degree will be required at time of tenure review.
  • Demonstrated expertise in public relations or marketing AND at least one of the following areas: social media analytics, analysis of user generated content, user experience design, social media campaign planning.
  • Familiarity with critical as well as applied scholarship in the field.
  • Strong commitment to excellence in teaching, scholarship, advising, and academic service.
  • Experience with or a demonstrated willingness to participate in teaching, mentoring, research, or service activities that promote the growth of an equitable, diverse, and inclusive academic environment.



Additional Information:

This is a full-time, exempt, benefits-eligible position in the Massachusetts State College Association (MSCA) bargaining unit. Salary commensurate with experience in accordance with Appendix O of the MSCA contract (http://mscaunion.org/day-and-dgce-contracts/)
