The Department of Criminal Justice & Social Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Forensic Investigation. This is a full-time, nine-month position starting in August of 2022. Applicants with expertise in any area of forensic investigation will be considered, but we are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in the investigation of specialized scene types, crime analysis, digital evidence, forensic statistics, or emerging fields related to the analysis of physical evidence.
Candidates should consider how their work would complement and expand the department's existing strengths in crime scene documentation, medicolegal death investigation, fingerprint analysis, and forensic anthropology. The ideal candidate would also strengthen existing collaborations with the UW-Platteville Computer Science and Software Engineering Department or form new interdisciplinary collaborations relevant to their expertise.
Great Benefits! Salary range for this position is $58,000 commensurate with experience and qualifications.
The successful candidate will have a demonstrated competency, or the capability, for teaching courses in Forensic Investigation. Courses should include some combination of the following: Introduction to Crime Scene Investigation, Evidence Collection and Preservation, Crime Scene Processing Techniques, Criminalistics, and specialized courses in the candidate's area of expertise.
The typical teaching load is 4 courses per semester (4/4). Additional responsibilities include actively participating in research and scholarship, providing academic advising and career mentorship to students, and engaging in service to the department, university, profession, and public. Other duties may be assigned by the Department Chair. It is expected that the candidate will demonstrate continued membership in and engagement with relevant professional organizations.
