Description

The Dell Medical School Department of Psychiatry is seeking a Pediatric Psychologist to provide clinical services through tele-mental health as part of the Texas Child Health Access Through Telemedicine (TCHATT) program at UT Health Austin, Dell Medical School. Standard responsibilities include provision of consultative and direct clinical services, including diagnostic assessments, brief interventions, urgent assessments, and long term treatment planning of youth experiencing mental health challenges within a school based setting. Participate as a member of an interdisciplinary team with respect to broad-based pediatric mental health, cultural competency, social determinants of health, and innovative ways to approach mental health in children and adolescents within a school setting. Provide presentations to school staff to increase awareness and access to mental health with a focus on promoting resilience for youth. Additional opportunities for teaching and supervision of trainees are available.

Essential Functions

The identified Pediatric Psychologist will work within an inter-professional model and routinely collaborate with pediatric psychiatrists, psychiatric residents, medical students, other psychologists, licensed professional counselors, and internal administrative staff. In addition, the identified candidate may potentially provide clinical services within Dell Children's Medical Center.

The Pediatric Psychologist will routinely interact with external stakeholders, including primary care physicians and staff, and external public-school personnel to engage in collaborative care on behalf of subspecialty and primary care pediatric patients, identified at-risk public-school students, and their families.

The Pediatric Psychologist will join our growing interdisciplinary faculty in the Department of Psychiatry at Dell Medical School. Engagement in provision of training, supervision, and applicable didactics for psychology interns and fellows as well as participation in clinical research and general program development efforts through the Department are encouraged. This position requires qualification for an academic appointment in the University of Texas at Austin's Dell Medical School and, as such, includes associated faculty benefits.

Qualifications

Required qualifications

The candidate will have completed a doctoral degree from an accredited school of Clinical, Counseling, or School Psychology, along with an APA accredited (or commensurate) internship/residency focused on training in child clinical or pediatric psychology. Successful completion of a postdoctoral fellowship in child clinical or pediatric psychology is required. Attainment of Texas licensure for the practice of psychology is required by start date. Successful applicants will have already attained board certification through the American Board of Professional Psychology. If not already attained, board certification will be required within 5 years of completion of postdoctoral fellowship.

Must possess the ability to communicate with others in a clear, understandable, and professional manner on the phone and in person as well as demonstrated use of superior written and verbal communication skills.

Must be Board-certified or board-eligible with 5 years from completion of doctoral degree in Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology or Clinical Health Psychology through the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP)

Must possess the ability to interact with colleagues, administrators, executives, patient families and other program partners in a manner that represents the Dell Medical School positively. Must exhibit sound judgment in decision-making. Must possess the ability to maintain regular, reliable and punctual attendance. Demonstrated ability to be flexible and adaptable to change. Preferred Qualifications

Professional experience as a licensed psychologist in providing clinical services via tele-mental health is preferred. Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred. Prior experience working in public school systems and community outreach is preferred. Clinical teaching skills and potential to contribute to our faculty's active program of research are preferred.
