Program Management and Operations Specialist

About Northeastern:
Founded in 1898, Northeastern is a global research university and the recognized leader in experience-driven lifelong learning. Our world-renowned experiential approach empowers our students, faculty, alumni, and partners to create impact far beyond the confines of discipline, degree, and campus.

Our locations—in Boston; Charlotte, North Carolina; London; Portland, Maine; San Francisco; Seattle; Silicon Valley; Toronto; Vancouver; and the Massachusetts communities of Burlington and Nahant—are nodes in our growing global university system. Through this network, we expand opportunities for flexible, student-centered learning and collaborative, solutions-focused research.

Northeastern's comprehensive array of undergraduate and graduate programs— in a variety of on-campus and online formats—lead to degrees through the doctorate in nine colleges and schools. Among these, we offer more than 195 multi-discipline majors and degrees designed to prepare students for purposeful lives and careers.

About the Opportunity:
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Program Operations, the Program Manager and Operations Specialist serves as a key member of the Center for Student Involvement (CSI) team. This Specialist position focuses on the developmental support of a portfolio of university-recognized student organizations.

Responsibilities:
This Specialist is responsible for working closely with student leaders and student-driven committees. This includes frequently assessing the needs of student leaders and developing plans for the enhancement and expansion of student group resources and training, in addition to administrative program management responsibilities. This role must work closely with campus partners such as legal counsel, risk management, NUPD and event management to ensure compliance with university policies and procedures when planning student programs.

In conjunction with the Assistant Director, the Specialist will facilitate the campus-wide Call for Programs process for reserving major campus venues and will serve as an administrator for the Event Management System (EMS). Management of this system requires frequent support for colleagues outside of the Center who utilize the system. Due to the complexity and high-profile nature of our online scheduling system, it is imperative for the Specialist to possess a high level of competency in managing virtual platforms and technologies. The Specialist will be expected to deliver superior customer service to all parties and will work with event planning staff to develop policies and procedures that continue to provide a superior experience for our customers.

The Specialist will also work closely with the Assistant Director to oversee the daily operations of the Box Office. The CSI Box Office manages ticketing for all non-athletic and departmental events (about 150 per year), and will staff the Box Office as needed for day-of sales. They will assist the Assistant Director in building and configuring events in CSI's ticketing software for large-scale campus programs such as Homecoming, Springfest, and Summester. Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills are necessary to be successful in this capacity.

As a member of the Program Operations team, the Program Management and Operations Specialist will collaborate closely with other members of the team to meet operational goals of the Center for Student Involvement.

Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree is required. 2-5 years of experience required. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience working in student union operations or event management at either the paraprofessional or professional level. The candidate must demonstrate successful database management experience and excellent written and oral communication. The successful candidate must be competent in managing multiple complex tasks simultaneously with a strong attention to detail and superior results. This position will require frequent nights and weekends in order to adequately meet the needs of the ever-changing student population. The ability to work at a diverse, inclusive, fast-paced, global institution is essential. The Specialist must align their work with the established mission, goals and literacies of the Division of Student Affairs.

Salary Grade:
10
