Bennington College

Job Type: Full Time

Location: Bennington, Vermont, United States

Bennington College, a liberal arts college distinguished for its pioneering initiatives in higher education, seeks an experienced and motivated Field Work Term/Career Development Communications and Engagement Coordinator in the Field Work Term/Career Development office. Bennington has an 80 year track record of running field work experiences for all undergraduates and integrating these experiences into College curricula. At Bennington, we also think beyond the internship, encouraging students to pursue entrepreneurial ventures, apprenticeships, research experiences, campus work, and service learning as part of their field experience—and all of these endeavors are supported with reflective learning structures, life design curricula, and integrated academic advising. Want to be part of a team at the leading edge of career education for the future of work? Join our dynamic team of professionals committed to an inclusive framework for career education.

The Field Work Term/Career Development Communications and Engagement Coordinator will focus on student engagement through communications, digital media, website development, and cross-campus initiatives. The coordinator will develop and lead engagement strategies focused on promoting a broad portfolio of career and field work supports, including expanding networks and providing equitable access to resources. Finally, the position will lead all events management for the office, including internship and fellowship spotlight events, career fairs, and alumni networking events.

This position is ideal for a natural community builder who is passionate about creating inclusive and equitable pathways for career success, and also has a demonstrated track record of project management, events management, and administrative skill. The position is required to stay current on trends in job search protocols, recruitment, and career education best practices and resources; and be able to leverage technology to maintain a vibrant, interactive, and meaningful social media presence across all channels. The Communications and Engagement Coordinator will lead efforts to expand cross-campus partnerships to increase engagement among diverse student populations, faculty and staff, alumni, and other stakeholders.

Student relationships are the core aspect of this work, and a commitment to upholding practices of antiracism and inclusion are fundamental. The Coordinator is expected to attend team meetings and training as relevant to the position and to complete other administrative tasks and projects as assigned by the Assistant Director. The position works with all College departments--including Alumni Relations, Communications, IT--in addition to faculty and staff hiring agents across the institution. The Coordinator supervises one student worker and reports to the Assistant Director of Field Work Term. External relationships include, but are not limited to, prospective students, parents, alumni guests and visitors, and regular outreach to community partners.

Bennington serves a diverse student population inclusive of members of ethnically/racially minoritized, international, LGBTQIA+, and disability communities as well as diverse gender identities, socioeconomic backgrounds, religions, and political beliefs. Our staff and faculty also reflect diverse and intersecting backgrounds and identities. All employees are expected to be respectful and responsive to these differences in the service of building community that promotes student and employee success. Each individual (faculty, staff and students) will be accountable for upholding these values. The College's approach to pluralism and inclusivity—both as fields of inquiry and practice—is to prioritize flexible thought, and to invite the examination of access, value, power, and privilege through its institutional policies and areas of study. We encourage applicants from diverse realms of interest, backgrounds, experience, and accomplishment to apply.
