Job Summary

Drexel Applied Innovation's mission is to expand the impact of Drexel research through comprehensive technology transfer services. The unit consists of three pillars, IP & Agreements, Industry Engagement and Entrepreneurial Development and is part of Drexel's Office of Research & Innovation. This position is within the Industry Engagement pillar of Drexel Applied Innovation.

As a member of the Industry Engagement pillar, the Innovation Portfolio Manager will:
  • Identify and cultivate relationships with industry to create translational research and commercialization opportunities for Drexel Applied Innovation assets and their inventors.
  • Develop excellent working relationships with the members of the Drexel research community.
  • Work closely with an external partner to create industry leads for Drexel Applied Innovation.
Essential Functions

Relationship Building and Customer Service:
  • Connect and collaborate with faculty, professional and administrative staff, outside service providers, companies, investors, and entrepreneurs.
  • Identify and cultivate relationships with industry to create translational research and commercialization opportunities for Drexel Applied Innovation assets and their inventors. Desired outcomes include but not limited to: industry letter of support for future research, IP licensing discussions, sponsored and joint research discussions and other strategic research-driven collaborations and partnerships.
Education and training:
  • As a member of Drexel Applied Innovation, educate the Drexel community about Drexel Applied Innovation services and promote the culture of innovation.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelors or above from accredited institutions of higher education.
  • Demonstrated track record of business development in a technical or scientific business environment or closely related skills and accomplishments.
  • Demonstrated interest in cutting edge science and commercialization of scientific research.
  • Attention to detail and exceptional ability to manage multiple, concurrent work streams.
  • Exceptional time management and prioritization skills
  • Exceptional facilitation and coordination skills for business development
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication
  • Independent self-starter and strong work ethic
Preferred Qualifications
  • Track record of success in a similar position at a Carnegie R1 or R2 designated research institution
