Job Summary:

Medical Student Education & Services seeks an administrative assistant to work with the Admissions, Wisconsin Academy of Rural Medicine (WARM), and Student Services units in the UW School of Medicine & Public Health, Department of Academic Affairs. This position is responsible for administrative and program support across all three units, serving as the primary interface for students, faculty, staff, and the general public.

This position requires an individual who takes initiative, exercises independent judgment, and is able to communicate effectively. Superior organizational skills are needed as this position is responsible for coordinating and supporting multiple activities and teams. It's expected that this position develops and maintains professional relationships and provides positive and helpful customer service at all times. Though direct supervision is provided by the Director of Admissions, this position works closely and takes direction from members of all three units, and strives to create a welcoming, equitable, and inclusive work environment.

Qualifications:

-2+ years of administrative support required, preferably in an academic environment.
-Ability to work adeptly in a variety of software programs or applications is required.
-Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to problem-solve and multi-task in a courteous, calm, and professional manner is required.
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. This includes the ability to communicate effectively with different audiences including students, faculty, and staff.
-Demonstrated ability to work independently under limited supervision.
-Ability to attend to detail and be reliable, accurate, and timely in meeting deadlines is required.

Additional Information:

The successful applicant will be responsible for ensuring eligibility for employment in the United States on or before the effective date of the appointment. University sponsorship is not available for this position.
