Job Summary:

Under the general supervision of the MDS Administrative Program Specialist Supervisor this position is responsible for Inventory Control Coordinators with the MDS warehouse as well as being a backup driver to MDS. This includes Delivers, core stock inventory, receiving, shipping and UPS. Sort, scan, load, and deliver MDS/SWAP and cross dock (including 30ft truck policy) merchandise in an efficient and safe manner within the mandated time limits. Delivers SWAP merchandise when leaving MDS and picks up SWAP items on return trips. Assist with filling orders for supplies ordered from MDS. Help keep warehouse and vehicles clean and free of debris. The MDS program for UW-Madison affects 16,000 employees and over $40 million in vendor sales in addition to storage of items for many departments and state agencies. At the MDS/SWAP Warehouse this position will move material to designated areas, assist with documenting the receipt of material, perform all required vehicle inspection reports, and perform other duties as assigned to keep the warehouse functioning efficiently.

Education:

Minimum
H.S. Diploma

Qualifications:

- Knowledge of and ability to comply with Federal trucking regulations.
- Knowledge of daily vehicle inspection reports.
- Ability to handle large heavy skids of supplies.
- Ability to operate 4000 lbs. capacity swing nest lift.
- Must meet the UW Risk Management Driving Standards.
- Knowledge of how to properly placard your truck for delivery of hazardous materials per Federal regulations.
- Ability to efficiently and safely drive a large truck.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work. Ability to operate equipment and vehicles associated with moving materials such as delivery truck, hand truck, pallet jack, forklift, and carts.
- Ability to spot potentially hazardous material problem and the proper handling methods.
- Ability to lift and carry items up to 75 lbs. several times a day.
- Ability to walk, bend, stoop, twist, lift, raise arms above head, pull and push continuously during an eight-hour shift.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must wear steel-toed shoes while at work.
- Must maintain a valid Lift Truck Operators Permit that meets OSHA requirements.
- Able to work both independently and in tandem with other co-workers.
- English Proficiency Required - This position requires one or more of the following abilities: ability to speak, read, write, and/or understand verbal instructions in English
