Wilkes University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the level of Assistant Professor in the Department of Biology to begin Fall 2022. Successful candidates must have training using molecular, cellular, ecological, and/or genetic approaches to study fundamental areas of microbial biology. Possible research areas include, but are not restricted to, host-bacterial interactions, microbial diversity, microbial interactions, environmental microbiology, medical microbiology, virology, and metagenomics. The successful candidate will establish an active research program incorporating undergraduates, and will have the opportunity to participate in the MS program in Bioengineering. Teaching responsibilities will include development and delivery of upper-level undergraduate courses, microbiology for Nursing majors, and possibly graduate courses appropriate to the candidate's expertise. Participation in the introductory biology course is also possible.

A PhD is required and postdoctoral experience is preferred. The successful candidate will demonstrate an authentic interest in teaching undergrads, and show promise of excellence as an educator.
