Postdoctoral Associate (44448)
A NIH-funded postdoctoral position with the possibility of extension is available immediately in the lab of Dr. Jorge Frias-Lopez in the Department of Oral Biology, College of Dentistry. https://dental.ufl.edu/about/people/faculty/oral-biology/jorge-frias-lopez-ph-d/ .
This research program covers the study of pathogenesis of the oral microbiome. Our lab studies the molecular biology of oral pathogens, as well as the gene expression profile of the periodontal disease using a combination of techniques in molecular microbial physiology, infection models, eukaryotic invasion, and biofilm studies. We are seeking a highly motivated postdoc to join a project to study the role of CRISPR-Cas proteins in controlling the virulence of the periodontopathogen P. gingivalis. Technical expertise in genetic manipulation of bacteria and the use of host models are an asset.
The Department of Oral Biology provides an interdisciplinary atmosphere to study host-pathogen interactions, and the role of the microbiome on immune function and outcomes of infection.
Minimum starting annual salary is $47,476.00, commensurate with experience.
Ph.D. in Microbiology, Biochemistry, Genetics, or related disciplines. The successful candidate will have studied molecular mechanisms of host-microbes interactions. Strong organizational and oral/written communication skills preferred.
Please attach curriculum vitae, a cover letter summarizing research interests, experience and goals, and the names and phone numbers/e-mail of three references and relevant publications.
HEALTH ASSESSMENT MAY BE REQUIRED UPON HIRE
The final candidate will be required to provide official transcripts upon hire. A transcript will not be considered "official" if a designation of "Issued to Student" is visible.
