The Grants and Research Services Center at the University of Iowa College of Education invites applications for an Associate or Assistant Research Scientist to enhance the research mission of the College of Education.

This is a three-year term appointment which may be renewed.

Location: Iowa City, Iowa

The College of Education is advertising for an Assistant Research Scientist (req# 21004669) and an Associate Research Scientist (req#21004670). You may apply for one or both positions, however, we are seeking to fill only one of these positions at either the Associate Research Scientist or Assistant Research Scientist level.

Assistant Research Scientist Position (requisition # 21004669)
Required Qualifications  

  • Experience working as a methodological expert on education research projects including research design development. Minimum experience is 1 – 3 years.
  • A record of research productivity including evidence of referred publications and presentations.
  • Experience with a range of quantitative research methods and software. (e.g., R, SPSS, SAS, Stata, Mplus) and qualitative research methods and software (e.g., NVivo, Dedoose).
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and civil manner while appreciating the unique contribution of individuals from varied cultures, race, creed, color, national origin, age, sex, disability, sexual orientation, and gender identity.
  • Effective communication techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
  • Technical or professional writing experience. A writing sample must be included as part of the application process and may be of the following: co-authored publication, technical report, or portions of a grant submission.

 

Desirable Qualifications 
  • Familiarity with emerging issues in education research.
  • Prior experience with grant writing or proposal development in educational research.
  • What Works Clearing house certification
  • STEM Education or School Mental Health research experience

 

Associate Research Scientist Position (requisition #21004670)

  • Expertise with a range of quantitative research methods and software. (e.g., R, SPSS, SAS, Stata, Mplus) and qualitative research methods and software (e.g., NVivo, Dedoose).
