Emergency Management Specialist - (STA008292)



Assists in the development, coordination and administration of university emergency preparedness programs and continuity of operations planning.
  1. Assists with the development, implementation and periodic review of campus emergency management plans and programs.
  2. Coordinates emergency planning across campus. Recommends materials, supplies, processes and procedures.
  3. Develops training plans, programs and documentation on the topics of emergency management, preparedness, and operational continuity. Conducts regular training and information sessions for the campus community.
  4. Coordinates campus-wide preparations and activities in the event of an emergency and assists in the implementation and continuity of operations planning programs.
  5. Complete the maintenance of various communication methods and works with appropriate parties to ensure compliance.
  6. Maintains a master contact list for emergency response and support within the university community and surrounding areas.
  7. Is available for 24-hour on-call response during emergencies to perform emergency management functions and related duties.
  8. Performs other job-related duties as required.

Qualifications :

Bachelors and 3 years experience.

Education: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed.

Experience: Requires a minimum of three (3) years of directly job-related experience.

Certification/Licensing: None.

Additional Information / Preferred Qualifications:

Assists in the development, coordination and training and exercise of university emergency preparedness programs.

Assists with the development, implementation and periodic review of campus emergency management programs.

Coordinates emergency planning across campus. Recommends materials, supplies, and procedures

Develops training plans and documentation on the topics of emergency management, preparedness, and operations. Conducts regular training, information sessions, and exercises for the campus community.

Coordinates campus-wide preparations and activities in the event of an emergency and assists in the implementation of emergency plans.

Assists with the development and maintenance of the University's Emergency Operations Center (EOC).

Identifies appropriate communication and alert notification methods and works with appropriate parties to ensure maintenance and upgrades.

Maintains a master contact list for emergency response and support within the university community and surrounding areas.

Is available for 24-hour on-call response during emergencies to perform emergency management functions and related duties.

Requires a bachelor's degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed.

Requires a minimum of three (3) years of directly job-related experience.

Additional Qualifications:

• A 4-year degree is preferred. An advanced degree may be considered towards years of experience.

• Knowledge and understanding of the National Incident Management System (NIMS) is required.

• Candidate must possess strong communication skills and demonstrate excellent oral and written communication as well as interpersonal relations skills.

• Candidate must be organized, task-oriented, and able to execute deadline-driven projects.

• Experience working in a higher education institution is preferred.

Certification/Licensing Requirements:

• Perfer certificate of IS-100, IS-200, IS-700, and IS-800.

• Completion of ICS 300 and ICS 400 is preferred; Completion of both ICS 300 and ICS 400 within 1 year of hire is required.
