Position Summary
This position reports to the Associate Dean for Faculty and Research, to support the development of innovative curriculum and teaching excellence for Daniels faculty. This position provides leadership and vision to foster a culture of faculty engagement and continuous learning by providing faculty development programs/opportunities. The position fosters a culture of engaged student learning by strengthening pedagogy and invigorating curriculum. This position is a subject matter expert in faculty development, learner-centered instruction, curriculum design strategies and the scholarship of teaching and learning.
Essential Functions
Curricular Innovation:
- Create long range plans to identify, develop and implement innovative approaches in teaching and instructional design.
- Work with associate deans, assistant deans, department chairs, program directors and individual faculty to develop and revise courses, certificates, and degrees that are offered in-person, online, hybrid and hyflex modes.
- Keep abreast of new developments in pedagogy and instructional design concerning subject areas and research on how people learn.
Faculty Support and Development:
- Observes midterm and end-of-term class sessions to provide feedback and recommendations to inform curriculum changes and teaching strategies.
- Promotes teaching innovation, strong pedagogical practices, inclusive excellence, and learner-centered instruction by offering individual and group guidance, tools, templates, and resources.
- Assists faculty members in the review and revision of current syllabi, learning objectives, course material, exercises and assignments, and assessments. Partners with faculty (and other team members when appropriate) in the design, development, and implementation of new curriculum that aligns with the teaching and learning goals of the course, program, and college.
- Fosters a culture of faculty engagement and continuous learning by developing and overseeing initiatives that promote excellence in teaching, the scholarship of teaching and learning, and the effective use of educational technology. Expands the quality, diversity, and the number of faculty development opportunities.

- Proficient in MS Office/systems (MS Word, Excel, Power Point) and LMS organization.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Instructional design, instructional technology, learning sciences, or a closely related field.
- Two-years of experience applying instructional design principles and best practices to course development projects.
- Experience with online/distance teaching environments.
- Experience working with an LMS.
- Experience analyzing existing educational or training materials for rigor and quality.
- Experience reviewing, curating, and/or creating course-design-relevant resources to support instructional design and technology projects.
- Experience working in a support, consulting or advising capacity in which it was necessary to coach others toward quality outcomes and deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Masters degree in Instructional design, instructional technology, learning sciences, or a closely related field.
- Two years of work experience with the use of advanced instructional design principles, pedagogical strategies, and instructional technology to enhance learning.
- Experience in teaching or instruction.
- Knowledge of advanced instructional design principles including conducting midterm student feedback sessions and using engaged learning principles; experience with Canvas , Adobe Suite of products, and lecture capture software.
Work Schedule
Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Salary Grade Number:
The salary grade for the position is 11.
Salary Range:
The salary range for this position is $71,000-$76,000.
The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate’s sex or any other protected status.
