SUNY Corning Community College is accepting applications for a ten (10) month full-time tenure-track position teaching Engineering Science, Mechanical Technology, and Mechatronics in the College’s STEM Division. For the academic year 2021-2022, incoming instructors begin at $47,013, and assistant professors start at $51,366 for base salary (15 credit hours per semester) and are compensated per credit above the base.  This is a unionized position.  Visa sponsorship is not available.

Essential Functions

  • Providing instruction in both lecture and laboratory environments
  • Maintaining student academic records and submitting census reports, grades, and course syllabi
  • Participating in College Governance
  • Developing curriculum to maintain and improve existing programs. Faculty are expected to contribute to the development of curriculum for new courses and new programs.
  • Providing advising assistance to assigned advisees
  • Assisting in program reviews and course assessments
  • Courses may include Materials, Strengths of Materials, Statics and Dynamics, Kinematics, Mechatronics, CAD, and Hydraulics/Pneumatics.

    • Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Relevant Mechanical Engineering industrial experience
  • Experience with laboratories: setup, maintenance, and equipment use

    • Experience not required, but considered a plus: 

  • Teaching experience
  • Community College teaching experience
  • Online/remote teaching utilizing tools such as Google Meet/Zoom and Learning management systems such as Blackboard
  • Experience with Mechatronics

    • Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related with the expectation of acquiring a Master’s Degree within 5 years. 
  • Minimum 3 years relevant industrial experience
  • Possession of excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite and 2-D and 3-D CAD packages, preferably AutoCAD and SolidWorks
