Job Description:
The Department of English at Louisiana State
University (LSU) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant
Professor of Global Anglophone Literatures and Cultures, beginning
in August of 2022.
About Us: Located in the heart of Baton Rouge, LSU is
the flagship land-grant institution in Louisiana and a Research 1
University. We support research and teaching in a broad range of
fields, including British, American, and postcolonial literatures;
Caribbean, African American, and Black studies; Southern studies;
feminist studies; queer studies; digital humanities; film and media
arts; rhetoric; literacies; and English Education. English faculty
teach in numerous interdisciplinary programs in these and more
fields.
Requirements: Ph.D., with expertise in Global
Anglophone Literatures and Cultures, by the time the position
begins (August 2022); record of publication or strong promise of
future scholarly achievement; ability to teach Global Anglophone
literatures and cultures broadly. We are particularly interested in
candidates who have demonstrated experience engaging with diversity
through activities such as fostering an inclusive environment
inside and outside the classroom and working with students from
diverse backgrounds.
Teaching Expectations: The teaching load is 2/2 and
consists of graduate and undergraduate courses in Global Anglophone
literatures and cultures. The new hire in this position is expected
to teach in the annual rotation of English 3080 (Survey of
Postcolonial Literatures) and serve on graduate dissertation
committees.
Research Expectations: Competitive candidates should
maintain an active scholarly profile at par with the expectations
of a Research 1 Institution. The College provides support for
research and faculty development.
